Re: Ghana Is The 7th Best Performing Govt In Africa.

Our attention has been drawn to an article on your media and we wish to exercise our right of rejoinder. The government and its supporters in the NDC are seeking to once again parade the fact that Ghana has been ranked seventh in the Mo Ibrahim Index as one of its supposed unprecedented achievements. We know that this impression is erroneous and so must be duly corrected. It must be noted that apart from the year 2007 when Ghana was ranked eighth (with a score of 66.8), all other rankings of Ghana have been at seventh in recent history. Again, this years ranking of 66.0 is actually one of the worst Ghana has seen in recent times, bearing in mind the fact that Ghana was rated 70.1 in 2008. An inspection of the facts behind the seeming rosy picture the government and the NDC seeks to paint will also show that in consonance with the numerous complaints about the cost of living in Ghana, the component of sustainable economic opportunity received a paltry 53% confirming what Dr. Bawumia asserted in his lecturers. Below is a graph of Ghanas recent performances on the Mo Ibrahim index.
