Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper, Alhaji Iddrisu Bature, has stated that most of the crisis the ruling government, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is faced with, would not have cropped up if the founder of the party, Jerry Rawlings, had not played an active role in the daily administration of party affairs.
Instead of Mr Rawlings playing the role of a father whose children can fall on during difficult times, he is rather massively involved in ruining the electoral fortunes of the party, he said.
Speaking in an interview on Okay FM�s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Alhaji Bature pointed out that the ex-president�s description as founder of the NDC is only ceremonial.
According to him, the NDC after losing the 2000 general elections decided to honor Mr Rawlings for his efforts and contributions towards the party, hence the founder tag.
�Rawlings should have played the role of the old lady in the house that the young can run to for solutions when there is confusion and misunderstanding, but we have a founder who is massively involved in the day to day affairs of the party. So right from the beginning he diluted his power as a founder�everybody in the NDC should have been looking up to Rawlings for inspiration, advice and guidance, but he became a participant in the daily politics,� he said, adding that �when an elder joins in children�s games, it creates this kind of problems".
