Reports reaching peacefmonline.com say a 20 year old man at Nkawie-Kubin, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti region, tried to commit suicide in a rather bizarre manner by slashing off his penis.
The victim, Ernest Obeng, is alleged to have earlier attempted hanging himself but the timely intervention of relatives saved his life.
HelloFM's reporter, Emmananuel Amo, who narrated the incident during PeaceFM News@6pm said, Ernest Obeng, slashed off his own penis with a knife just when his brother went inside to get help from an uncle.
No one knows what compelled Ernest to engage in that bizarre suicide attempt but Amo reports that the victim's brother, Kwame Ntim noticed he (Ernest) was not in hisright frame of mind when he accompanied him to board a vehicle.
"...a few minutes after we arrived at home, i saw my brother wielding a knife and threatening to stab himself...when i failed to overpower him, i rushed to seek help from an uncle...on my return, i realized he had cut off his manhood and was hanging on a rope," Emmanuel Amo said quoting the victim's brother, Ntim.
Ernest is currently receiving medical attention at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital where he was rushed to.
