Nana Konadu Rawlings Must Reflect On Claims

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Jirapa Constituency in the Upper West region, Dr Francis Bawaana Dakura, has asked the former first lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, to reflect on her claim to the partys logo by denouncing her intended action. He said the Rawlings must not see the NDC party as a personal property but a collectively- owned entity which is bigger than the aspirations and ambitions of any particular individual. Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings must work with the party and not individuals: If any twisted spiritualist has told her she is going to be president of Ghana, then its a lie and she should forget about it he added. Dr Dakura said this when he paid a visit to the editorial department of Wa office of Graphic Communications Group Limited to interact with the journalists at the office. He predicted that Mrs Rawlings would not be president of Ghana - not because Ghanaians hate her but because the psyche of the Ghanaian is not to follow the path of a system which is a kind of dynasty. Take a look at the 2007 presidential primaries of the NPP, Dr Addo Kufuor had all the qualities and credentials but because he was the brother of the then President Kufuor he did not perform better he pointed out. He said it was unfortunate Mrs. Rawlings was bent on destroying a party she and the husband toiled to make. He said even though Mrs Rawlings believed her actions were going to affect the fortunes of the party, it was rather winning sympathy for the NDC because people were fed up with such unfortunate actions. Dr Dakura said the manner in which Mrs Rawlings clandestinely went to register the logo of the party was a clear case of dishonesty and also an indication that the logo does not belong to her. He said Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings could have informed the party hierarchy about her intentions before going to register the emblem. The actions of Mrs Rawlings in recent times - in terms of respect and confidence that some of us had in her - has waned because she has let us down as she keeps fomenting problems for Mr Rawlings he stressed. He also said instead of Mrs Rawlings working to make the party popular she was rather killing it. Dr Dakura said Mrs Rawlings cannot turn the clock of the government backwards because nothing can prevent President Mills from winning the December elections. He, therefore, urged supporters of the party to remain calm and rally behind President Millss government.
