We Must Move From Woyomisation To Jobilisation - Bawumia

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Friday urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, not to give up on all politicians, but look into a future of hope and prosperity, as the NPP prepares to return to the corridors of power to implement sound and pragmatic programmes and policies to tackle the challenges confronting them. He gave the assurance that the next NPP government under his presidency would be totally committed to providing a purposeful, action and results-oriented leadership that would speed up the transformation of the countrys socio-economic growth and restore hope to the many who find themselves in a state of despondency. The NPP Presidential Candidate was optimistic that this kind of leadership would position him to prosecute his vision to create a modern and peaceful society where the culture of impunity, political vendetta and thugery would be a thing of the past. Nana Addo was addressing a massive assembly of students and youth from all walks of life at the Ashanti Regional TESCON and Youth Forum organized by the New Patriotic Party Youth Wing in Kumasi. The event was the second in the series of Regional Youth Fora being organized by the New Patriotic Party Youth Wing. The first forum was held in the Eastern Region. It was also an opportunity for the NPP to introduce its running mate, Mahamudu Bawumia, to the people of the region after being selected to partner Nana Addo. The duo also used the occasion to outline the partys plans for employment creation, education and enhancing the standard of living of ordinary Ghanaians. Nana Akufo-Addo, who looked visibly shocked by the massive attendants at the event, stated: the only promise I can give to you young men and women here is that support me to win back power and I assure you, we will give you jobs which the NDC and professor Mills have failed to provide for you. The NPP Presidential Candidate catalogued a number of factors he believes holds the key to the rapid acceleration of the countrys future economic development. He mentioned good governance, devoid of corruption, lies, propaganda, personal vindictiveness; an impartial application of rule of law and justice; as well as governments political and moral commitment to fulfilling promises as the cardinal principles for government to achieve the desired national development. Nana Addo explained that the main focus of leadership has to be directed towards building a forward-moving and progressive country, with an economy that can provide the people with jobs and enable them earn a decent living. He gave the assurance that he would always remain committed to creating an economic environment that would create sustainable jobs for the youth, adding: we need as a country to create decent economic environment where the teeming unemployed youth can get access to jobs and more importantly secure and protect those who are already into their own private businesses. This is what, Nana Addo noted, governments must do to build a resilient economy where every Ghanaian will be a co-beneficiary, and not the type of government that believes in shielding and helping cronies to milk the nation. The NPP presidential candidate noted that the flourishing western economies, where every Ghanaian wants to travel to, to find ready jobs, were mainly made so because their governments were purposeful and therefore found it prudent to support individual private businesses to strive. It is important to rescue Ghana from the hands of this incompetent, corrupt and mediocre NDC government so that our people will be freed from the suffering and deprivation, he added. As part of his plan to build an economy that will see an astronomical growth, Akufo-Addos presidency will focus on value-addition to raw materials, manufacturing and also ensure that the entire machinery of government is geared towards assisting Ghanaians trying to do business. Ghanas development agenda, he said, is still at a stage that requires big minds with big vision to be in the driving seat of government. Small minds with little visions dont build nations. The NPP Vice Presidential Candidate, Mahamudu Bawumia, expressed his gratitude to the people of Ashanti region for rallying behind him all these years, assuring: I will go the extra mile to ensure that nothing but victory returns to the NPP and all Ghanaians. Dr Bawumia said the show of determination and positive attitude of hope by the partys supporters in particular, and Ghanaians in general, is what is needed to build a strong, resilient and vibrant economy, adding we must move from the economy of woyomisation to jobilisation. To him, Ghana cannot afford to give the NDC another four years, pre-empting that another four years for the NDC would see Ghana going into another HIPC situation which would derail all the gains made under the Kufour administration.
