Ga Dangbe Youth Demands Review Of All Govt Properties Sold To Ex Officials

The Ga Dangbe Youth Association has called for a review of all cases involving the sale of public property to government officials. The group has questioned the legality of the Supreme Court ruling which declared the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party as the rightful owner of a government bungalow he purchased. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey occupied the bungalow while serving as a Minister of Tourism during the erstwhile Kufuor administration. Deputy Minister of Information Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, and Deputy Sports Minister Omane Boamah have accused the former minister of abusing his office in his attempt to purchase the Ridge residential property. The Supreme Court however ruled that the plaintiffs failed to prove the conflict of interest charge leveled against the NPP chairman. But, speaking to XYZ News, Vice President of the Ga Dangbe Youth Association, Nii Marmah Markwei explained the groups call for a review of all such cases is to ensure fairness. If you are a member in government it is better not to get into these transactions because it doesnt speak well of you. We are not happy the way Jakes issue alone has been raised and it would have been better if they made it broad because there were other officials in the previous government who also acquired lands. So the cases need to be reviewed because some of the lands that were even given out are in contention.
