The New Patriotic Party vice presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Friday arrived in Prain in the Brong Ahafo Region to participate in this year�s annual Quranic recitation gathering called Mauled.
Dr. Bawumia who has been touring the Northern region with Nana Akuffo Addo led a delegation of the NPP to participate in the event.
At such a gathering, Muslims from all walks of life congregate to recite the Quran.
Speaking to Citi News from Prain, Alhaji Sumaila Ibrahim, a special Aide to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia said, �It is a place where we recite the Holy Quran several times to seek Allah�s intervention for our lives, our nation and for everybody in this country and the whole world.
�Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia was born a Muslim, bread a Muslim, practiced Islam and is a good Muslim and that is why he is attending today�s prayer with his brethren who believe Allah can do everything for them in their lives,� he stated.
The NPP National Chairman, Jake Otanka Obetsebi Lamptey, the Northern regional NPP Vice Chairman, Alhaji Rufai Yahaya Iddi, former Minister for Works and Housing and the NPP Parliamentary candidate for Salaga constituency, Hon. Boniface Abubakari Saddique were among the delegation.
The annual Prain Mauled is the brain child of the late spiritual leader of the Tijanniya Muslim sect, Sheikh Abdullah Maikano.
