Low Turnout In Prisoners Biometric Registration Exercise

XYZ News monitoring of the ongoing Biometric Registration of Prisoners across the country indicates a low turnout than expected. The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Prisons Service, ASP Courage Atsem has attributed the problem to eligibility. He said a check on the information on some of the identification cards the inmates provided contradicted with the details the Service had which prevents some prisoners from taking part in the exercise. ASP Atsem who monitored the exercise at the Female section of the Nsawam Prison said only ten female prisoners had registered as at 11 am on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission says it has made the necessary provisions at the various prisons to ensure a successful exercise. A Public Relations Officer of the Electoral Commission, Sylvia Annor told XYZ News that the EC will only deal with applicants who are qualified irrespective of the numbers.
