Boniface Abubakar Saddique has earned a Master�s Degree in Conflict, Peace and Security Studies (MCPS) at the Kofi Annan Peacekeeping Centre. He was a former Northern Regional Minister and Minister for Water Resources, Works and Housing under the Kufuor regime. At the colourful graduation ceremony, Vice President John Mahama whose speech was read on his behalf expressed pleasure that the occasion was also used to inaugurate the Master�s degree program in Gender, Peace and Security at the centre. The two ceremonies he said marked significant milestones in the achievements of the centre adding that the place has grown from strength to strength. While congratulating the commandant of the centre and staff he said government is proud of the noble achievements of the centre in the area of peace and security. Through the research, training and other academic performance he said, �The Ghana Armed Forces continue to excel in international peace support and other operations globally.� He said with the vision, initiative and foresight of leaders at the centre �we are not surprised that the centre continues to introduce new and very relevant programmes that address the needs of participating countries on their academic and research calendar.� He called for the maintenance of tolerance so that as he put it �we can continue to undertake our development programmes and accelerate our growth in peace and harmony.� As election 2012 draws near he said all must demonstrate a resolve to remain peaceful adding �it is my expectation that the same peaceful manner in which elections have been held and conducted in the past would be maintained.� He thanked development partners and others for the continued confidence they have shown in the activities of the centre which according to him go beyond the shores of Ghana.
