Gov't Places Koku Anyidoho In A Less Influential Position?

In what can best pass for an official rebuke over his recent gaffe, the Office of the President has issued clear instructions that from hence no directives including appointments can claim to emanate from the president unless signed by key individuals excluding Koku Anyidoho. A statement signed by the Chief of Staff, Mr. J.H. Martey Newman and issued from the office of the President in Accra on Friday, outlined government's official channels of communication leaving out the Director of Communications, the official designation of Koku Anyidoho. Mr. Anyidoho was severely censured for his purported dismissal of the Ashanti regional Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana during the Ghana versus Lesotho football match, when the floodlights at the Baba Yara Sports stadium malfunctioned for well over an hour. The Director of Communications at the Presidency then granted interviews on various media platforms claiming the ECG boss had been fired because the president was very upset; an assertion that later turned out to be untrue. For now it is not clear what role Mr Anyidoho will be playing as Director of Communication, following this press release. Read below the full statement issued by government. PRESS RELEASE The Office of the President wishes to state that all directives and decisions emanating from the Presidency including appointments, are communicated formally and signed by the Secretary to the President or in some instances by the Chief of Staff. All other Government information is communicated through the Ministry of Information by Press Release or other means and in some cases where appropriate by the relevant sector Ministries, under the direction of the Minister-in-charge. The Office of the President wishes the Media and General Public to be guided by these procedures and channels for communicating Government information. Signed J. H.M. NEWMAN CHIEF OF STAFF
