CWG Ghana holds workshop to boost Ghana�s ICT industry

Computer Warehouse Group (CWG), Ghana, a member of the Pan African ICT Company-Computer Warehouse Group has organised a business forum to help boost the ICT industry in the country. The forum which was in partnership with Oracle and Interdist Alliance was aimed at informing ICT professionals on the current cutting-edge technology available from the Information Technology giant, Oracle. The event on theme �Oracle Best-in-Class Solutions for Today�s IT Infrastructure� focused on Oracle products, Hardware (servers and storage systems), middleware (programmes that help different elements of a computer system communicate) and software. It brought together participants from all sectors of the economy such as financial institutions, telecommunication companies, manufacturing industries, educational institutions, and governmental agencies. Mr Ladi Fabiyi, Hardware Manager of Oracle, said the workshop was to appreciate customers and partners and to unveil the current cutting-edge technology available from Oracle for their data centres and to their business as a whole. He said the equipment was designed to be re-used saying �if there is the need to totally remove the device, Oracle has a third-party company that will deal with it in the best possible way with the environment in mind.� He said Oracle�s devices were environment-friendly adding that most of the Oracle products were manufactured to outlast the usual time required. He said some customers were still using the old Oracle database which was still effective and efficient. �I think Ghana�s IT is flourishing. One can see how the telecom companies are utilising IT to their advantage. I see a very bright IT future in Ghana�, Mr Fabiyi said adding that Oracle and CWG Ghana were going to be employers of good resources and contribute their quota in terms of development of the local understanding and application of IT. He pledged Oracle and CWG Ghana commitment to contribute their quota to the development of IT in Ghana. Mr Tony Dadzie, Country Manager of CWG Ghana, said Oracle encompasses every aspect of IT. He explained that it comprises database, middleware (programmes that help different elements of a computer system communicate), servers and storage systems. He said over the years CWG had successfully deployed and maintained Oracle products for several clients in different industries and was still doing the same. He said this had earned CWG the Platinum partnership level with Oracle both in Ghana and Nigeria. Computer Warehouse Group is an integrated ICT Group consisting of three companies namely CWL Systems-the hardware division, DCC Networks � the Communications division and ExpertEdge Software � the software division. CWG has presence in Nigeria, Ghana and Uganda while it provides services to many other African countries.
