Chief Imam, Reg. Minister, Security Capos Caught In Hohoe Curfew

The National Chief Imam Shiekh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the Volta regional Minister, Henry Ford Kamel and the commanders of the Police and Military in the Volta region were on Tuesday caught up in the Hohoe curfew. The Chief Imam was reported to have finished his Maghreb prayer in the mosque and just when his delegation set off, the police briefly held the convoy, drawing their attention to the time which was a little over 6pm. The regional Minister who happens to be the Chairman of the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), the body that imposed the curfew and his deputy plus the regional Police and Army commanders were all caught up in the curfew which started at 6pm. Confirming the situation to Citi News Hon Kamel indicated that all of the above except the Chief Imam were in a meeting regarding the current wrangling in the community. The dusk to dawn curfew was imposed on the Hohoe community on Monday due to the communal clashes between Moslem youth and the traditional authorities over the exhumation of the Chief Imam of Hohoe - Alhaji Alhasan. Reports reaching Citifmonline.com however indicate that upon negotiations, the high profile personalities including the security capos and their entourage have been escorted out of the curfew zone.
