President of the Volta regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede has called on traditional leaders across the country to get involved in maintaining peace in their communities before during and after the elections. The Agbogbomefias appeal comes amidst series of ethnic clashes in parts of the country with the latest being the Hohoe clashes. Togbe Afede who has summoned an emergency regional house of chiefs meeting on Thursday said Ghanaians must be careful not to abuse the peace prevailing in the country. Speaking to XYZ News, Togbe Afede stated that Ghana's peace is under threat and warned of dire consequences if care is not taken to solve the various conflicts across the country. We all need to recognize the importance of peace, throughout all my travels the distinguishing feature of Ghana that people talk about is the peace and security of our nation Togbe Afede said. He added that Peace is so much important that we should not take for granted. The distance between peace and anarchy is a small line as witnessed in Ekumfi and Hohoe, so I will urge my fellow chiefs across the country to advocate for peace in every aspect of our lives.
