The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Tano North in the Brong Ahafo region, Freda Prempeh has advised the electorate to vote out the Mills-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) government because it has failed Ghanaians. �President Mills has failed Ghanaians and should not be given a second term,� she pointed out. �The President promised to reduce fuel drastically but has increased it drastically which has affected the cost of goods and services, increased road tolls, increased taxes. He has not fulfilled his promise of 40 percent appointments to women, health insurance is on the verge of collapse.� Freda Prempeh said this while addressing residents of her constituency during the 3rd Edition of Peoples Forum at Duayaw Nkwanta recently which coincided with the launch of her campaign to seek the mandate of the people to represent them in parliament. The event was attended by stalwarts of the NPP and present and former Members of Parliament (MPs) in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions. According to Madam Prempeh, the people in the area had not benefited in any way from the NDC government since it came to power more than three years ago. She said roads in the district were in a deplorable state, stressing that the communities in the area had appealed for basic infrastructural development to improve their living conditions. She promised to provide her constituents with good leadership by articulating and addressing their concerns. The MP aspirant further said her vision is to improve infrastructure and empower women and the youth in the constituency. �I have been working closely with you and have conducted thorough research to identify major problems in the constituency and no area will be left out in the development agenda,� she confirmed. Madam Prempeh, who is the founder of the Women Supporters Union of Ghana (WOSUGHA), pledged to enhance sports, especially the less popular ones in Tano North Constituency, adding, �I am a lover of sports and I will uplift the image of sports to unearth the hidden talents of the youth in the Tano North Constituency.� Freda Prempeh disclosed that through her personal effort, some communities in the district had been connected to the national grid and received a number of development projects and programmes. She stressed that she donated library books and educational materials as well as computers to various schools to enhance effective learning in the district. She called on her constituents to embrace Nana Akufo-Addo, NPP�s flag bearer, who promised to provide free senior high school education for all Ghanaian students and also create jobs for the youth. Madam Prempeh said the erstwhile Kufuor administration introduced several social intervention policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP), Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Programme (STEP), Free Maternal Health Care, Metro Mass Transport, School Feeding, Capitation Grant meant for free basic education, free text books, cocoa spraying, fertilizer subsidies, among others, in an effort to bring economic relief to Ghanaians. She indicated that the next NPP government, which would be led by Nana Akufo-Addo, would improve the existing policies and also introduce more social intervention policies to improve the lot of the ordinary Ghanaian. On the upcoming general polls, the MP aspirant called on the constituents to be self-disciplined and respect the cultural values of the land to ensure peace before, during and after the elections.
