NDC Has Failed Us Mamprugu Chiefs

The chiefs and indigenes of the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency in the Mamprugu traditional area of the Northern Region have expressed their disappointment with the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for doing very little to develop their area. This came to light on the second day of NPP running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumias tour of Mamprugu. In interactions with the NPP Vice-Presidential candidate, the chiefs and people of the area stated that though the area has voted for the NDC in several elections since 1992, the NDC has not brought about any significant improvement in their lives. People were particularly disappointed in the fact that to date, there is not a single edifice or project that they could point to as a SADA initiated project. At Gbandabilla in the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency, an elder of the town said we have voted for the NDC always but when you look around all the things we can see are those done by the NPP when it was in power. In 2008, we thought that we should give them the benefit of doubt and see if they would do anything different. But it has been four wasted years. The second day of Dr. Bawumias tour saw him visiting Gbintiri, Yankazia, Gbandabilla, Gbandaa, Kolinvai, Naminboku, Dindani and Sakogu all in the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency. The chiefs and people of the communities visited recounted how the NPP extended electricity to their area, constructed schools for them and constructed the bridge that linked them to the rest of the Northern Region. At Gbintiri, the Chief of Gbintiri thanked Dr. Bawumia for visiting them and also thanked the NPP for all the good work it did when it was in power. He added when it comes to development, I will insist that the NPP is the way. Judging from the 8 year rule of the NPP and comparing it to what happened before the NPP and what is happening now, we now know that the NPP is truly the party for us. He added that they say the elephant is from the bush and the NPP has proven that it is really the Party for those of us in the bush. Dr. Bawumia thanked the people for remembering what the NPP did for the area. He asked the people of the area to translate their commendation of the NPP into votes come December. Dr. Bawumia asked the people to massively give Nana Akufo-Addo the mandate as President of Ghana and to also elect Peter Wuni Baga, Parliamentary Candidate for the NPP as MP. He indicated that the next NPP administration under Nana Akufo-Addo would continue from where the Kufuor administration left off. He stated that the next administration would bring even more development to the people and asked them not only to support the NPP but to constantly pray for the NPP and more importantly, vote for Nana Akufo-Addo on election day. Spokesperson to Nana Akufo-Addo, Mustapha Hamid, who is part of Dr. Bawumias entourage, stated that it was good that the people had realized the difference between the NPP and the NDC. He said there is a popular proverb which says that you never know the importance of your buttocks until there is a boil on it. You have now tasted governance under the NDC and NPP and I am happy that you recognize the difference. Dr. Bawumia rounds off his tour of the Nalerigu-Gambaga constituency on Friday. The NPP Running Mate would next tour the Walewale constituency.
