The Electoral Commission has announced that it has set Tuesday 31st July to hold the by-election for the Wulensi constituency following the death of its Member of Parliament, Alhaji Sani Iddi.
The legislator passed away late Monday 6 June at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness.
In a statement by the Electoral Commission signed by its deputy Chairman of Operations, Sarfo Kantanka, it stated that �in accordance with Article 112(5) of the constitution as amended by section 3 of Act 527, the Electoral Commission will hold a by-election in the constituency on Tuesday the 31st day of July, 2012.
The statement added that �the Commission will take nominations for the said by-election on Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th of July, 2012, at the district office of the Commission at Wulensi between the hours of 8:00am and 12:30pm and 1:30pm and 5:00pm.
�Nomination forms may be obtained from the district office of the Commission at Wulensi or at the Regional Office of the Commission in Tamale.
It further added that �candidates for the election shall provide two recent photographs (bust) with red background on the submission of their nomination forms. The filling fee for the election is Five Hundred Ghana Cedis (GH�500.00)�.
