NDC and NPP Kick Off Campaign Ahead Of Wulensi By-election

The two main political parties, the ruling National Democratic Congress and the opposition New Patriotic Party have began campaigning ahead of the 31st July by-elections to be conducted in the Wulensi constituency. The Wulensi seat became vacant following the death of the Member of Parliament for the area Alhaji Sani Iddi who was an independent candidate. The Electoral Commission has set July 31 for the by-elections and has asked prospective candidates to file for nominations. Speaking to XYZ News, the NDC Parliamentary candidate for Wulensi, George Maaban said he is working very hard to ensure that he wins the seat come July 31. The NPP Parliamentary candidate for the area, Thomasa Donkor Ogaja, says as a former DCE for the area he stands a better position to win the seat. I contested the 2008 elections and lost to the late MP. I dont how the NDC can win this seat even if they descend with all their arsenals. What I know is that the NPP has done a lot in the constituency and the NDC cannot match NPP with developments in the area. Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has announced that there will be no biometric election in the Wulensi constituency during the by-election. The announcement implies that Wulensi electorates would have to use their old voter identification cards to exercise their franchise on the day of the election.
