Gov't Must Explain Sale Of Kotoka International Airport - AFAG

Pressure is mounting on government to clear the air on the purported sale of the Kotoka International Airport and other regional airports. Documents intercepted by Editor of the Insight newspaper Kwasi Pratt Junior indicate that government is seeking public private partnership for the running of the Kotoka International Airport, Tamale, Kumasi and Takoradi Airports. He says the move smacks of hypocrisy since the ruling government opposed the sale of some national assets such as the Ghana Telecom during the Kufour regime. The latest to challenge the purported sale is pressure group, the Alliance for Accountable Governance. Abu Ramadan is a leading member of AFAG in an interview with XYZ News said government must give Ghanaians good and genuine reasons it is attempting to sell one of the nations most cherished asset. Why would government want to sell a strategic asset of that nature? Why is the government running at a loss, government should tell us and give Ghanaians a good and genuine reason as to why we cant manage the only international airport we have Mr. Ramadan said. Mr. Ramadan added that AFAG will thoroughly investigate the transaction to take appropriate action in the interest of the nation. We [AFAG] are going to go into the matter and do an in depth analysis of the sale. Meanwhile, the Deputy Transport Minister Dzifa Attivor has denied knowledge of the said transaction.
