Kofi Adams Suspension Extended

The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has extended the suspension imposed on the embattled former Deputy General Secretary, Mr. Kofi Adams, by an additional one month. Mr. Adams was suspended after a leaked tape with a voice purported to be his was heard saying he will do everything possible to prevent President John Mills from securing the mandate of Ghanaians for a second term in the December 7, general elections. His reinstatement is pending on the results of investigations being conducted on him by the Disciplinary Committee of the NDC. But before the Disciplinary Committee could present its report, the FEC has written to Mr. Adams, informing him of its decision to extend his suspension for another month. When contacted on phone, Mr. Kofi Adams told The publisher newspaper that, though he has not received the letter personally, he had information that it is in the Ridge office where he had been operating from since his suspension. On the latest decision against him, Mr. Adams said FEC headed by the General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia do not have the power to extend his suspension. FEC does not have the mandate to extend the suspension when they are not the body that took that decision to suspend me in the first place, Mr. Adams said.
