NPP Delegation Visits Hohoe To Empathize With Residents

A high-powered delegation from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday paid a visit to the Gbi Traditional Area to sympathize with the people of Gbi State and their compatriots in the Zongo community, following the recent eruption of communal violence that plunged the area into chaos and insecurity. Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Member of Parliament for New Juaben, who led the delegation, said the visit was at the instance of the Flagbearer of the party, Nana Addo-Danquah Akufo-Addo, and the entire party to empathize with them. He said the flagbearer at a more appropriate time would call on chiefs and elders of Gbi land personally to express his sympathy about the unfortunate development. Mr Owusu-Agyeman said peace was paramount in the socio-economic development of the nation and praised the people for embracing gestures to peace building. He expressed gratitude to them for already looking ahead irrespective of the wrongs that had been perpetrated and for having confidence in the law. Spokesmen for the Gbi Traditional Council and that of the Hohoe Zongo community expressed their resolve to abide by the roadmap to peace to enable the area to bounce back economically due to its strategic location. The delegation later had a closed-door meeting with Togbega Gabusu VI, Paramount Chief of Gbi Traditional Area. An undisclosed amount of money was presented to the Gbi State and the Zongo community. Members of the delegation included Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo, former Finance Minister, Mr Kenwuud Nuworsu, Volta Regional Chairman of NPP, Mr John-Peter Amewu, former Municipal Chief Executive, Mrs Woyram Boakye, former District Chief Executive of South Dayi and Mrs Janet Adibo-Obroh, NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the constiutency.
