A spiritualist in the Simbaga Traditional area in the Garu-Timpane District of the Upper East region, Anyare Ayeb, is currently in police grips for allegedly raping a widow.
The widow, Maria Kojo, is said to have gone to him to seek spiritual help. As part of the healing process the spiritualist shaved her private part and mixed it with some concoction and asked her to insert the medicine.
Anyare Ayeb allegedly raped the victim in the process. Naaba Asalig Namde II, chief of the Simbaga Traditional Area told XYZ News he invited the woman to ascertain the veracity of the issue after he got wind of the crime.
"She went there for treatment and then the man shaved her private part and mixed the hair with some concoction � something like okro. Hearing this, I didn�t take it light[ly],� he narrated.
According to Naaba Namde II, invited the spiritualist to investigate the matter but when he refused, he referred the matter to the police who arrested and incarcerated him.
