The inauguration of some of the newly created districts tomorrow (Thursday) disrupted parliamentary proceedings on Wednesday. The house had to defer most of the business it had tabled to deliberate on. Minister of Employment and Social Welfare, Moses Asaga was scheduled to answer questions pertaining the number of jobs that government has created since 2009, and the breakdown sector by sector. He was also scheduled to brief the house on the intended establishment of the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Employment and Innovation Initiative (CEEII), which is to address graduate unemployment in the country. But the minister could not be available to answer the question because he had to travel to his constituency for the inauguration which comes off tomorrow. Discussions on the report of the finance committee on the financing agreement between the Government of Ghana and the International Development Association(IDA) for an amount of 30 million US dollars and 10 million UD dollars grant to finance the Statistics Development Program , as well as the report of the joint committee on Finance and Defence and Interior on the credit facility agreement between Ghana Government and Fidelity Bank Limited for an amount of 24.11 million Euros, for the purchase of the remaining two out of the four MI-171 SH helicopters for the Ghana Armed Forces, among others were all deferred. It is because the committee chairmen and their deputies have all travelled to their constituencies for tomorrows inauguration of the newly created districts.
