Whenever one raises his hand and waves it in the air, it signifies something depending on how he waves the hand and to what direction. President John Atta Mills, after his swearing in ceremony at the independent square, waved a white handkerchief to the crowd which meant acknowledging cheers from the people who attended his swearing in ceremony. Anytime he is about to embark on a journey outside Ghana either to seek medical treatment or conduct a full scale body check up, at the airport, he again waves his hand in away which means saying good by to his people. Looking at current situation of events in the country, no one can seriously say from the way he waves his hands whether he is acknowledging cheers or saying good bye to the people. For a very long time now he has remain quiet over pressing issues making critics to descend heavily on him asking why he is not coming out on those issues which demands an explanation or direction as to how to solve those problems. Special investigative journalists in their reports have exposed some ministers, DCEs, party goons and office holders involving themselves in various corrupt acts which all were waiting to hear his comments on them but they never came. Some of his boys, boys during the biometric registration exercise spoiled themselves which they should have received some bashings but again the old man never came out on those issues. We are having reports that he has pulled out from the IEA presidential debate programme with explanation coming from his party propagandists that the platform is not big enough to market the president. But Ghanaians have not forgotten that it was the same small platform that he used to send his campaign message across four years ago where his praise singers claimed he beat the opposition leader Nana Addo Danqua Akuffo Addo. So once he appeared on the same programme it will be unaccepted that it is not a big platform to sell him John Evans Atta Mills to the Ghanaian electorate making one to believe that probably he does not have any message to give to Ghanaians. Six months prior to election, he must send his campaign message across the country to win more votes to retain his presidency therefore having IEAs platform to his advantage. But the silence makes me smell something. Like I said, six months prior to election and all that the president could be heard of doing currently is waving at party supporters bussed from far and near to welcome him back home from his medical trip to the U.S.A should mean he is no more interested in contesting the seat. One can attempt to say that his waving at occasions and for that matter at his welcome ceremony at the airport was part of his secret saying of bye,bye and not acknowledging cheers as some news reports have said. But it is still not clear as to whether the old man is saying bye bye or acknowledging cheers. He must let us know as soon as possible.
