Ghana coach Akwasi Appiah has contributed Ghc 2000 to the Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio charity. The veteran coach is being honoured for his immense contribution to Ghana football with a charity match on Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium. The game which kickoff at 5pm will see the Black Stars coached by Maxwell Konadu take on the Friends of Attuquayefio side predominantly made up of the famous 64 Battalion squad of Hearts of Oak under the tutelage of veteran coach Sam Arday. Appiah who is currently abroad on a scouting mission for the Black Stars bemoans the fact he is not physically present to grace the occasion and have thus made the cash donation while appealing to all to support the significant initiative. �Sir Jones made me his assistant coach of the Black Stars at the time I had left Ghana to start my coaching course and therefore played a significant role in my life,� he told Kumasi-based Angel FM. �He loved the game with all he had and thus dedicated his entire life to it. �I have been visiting him every now and then so I was really disappointed not to be part of his charity match. �I have thus contributed my widows might which is Ghc 2000 as my portion towards his upkeep. �I hope it doesn�t stop there and that various groups and individuals will make donations towards his charity and that everyone will go to the stadium on Friday to show solidarity.� Part of the proceeds generated from the game on Friday will be used to support the Ear, Nose and Throat Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
