An Accra Human Rights High Court has ordered mobile network giant, MTN, to restore as soon as possible telephony services to Dr. Raymond Atuguba, the executive secretary of the defunct Constitution Review Commission.
Dr. Atuguba dragged the leading cellular service providers to court for disconnecting him without prior notice after eight years of complaining of poor services.
The preliminary hearing of the court on Tuesday, had it that MTN should put the lawyer back on line �within 30 minutes� to enable him to reach his counsels in the case as well as his family members.
Dr. Atuguba, who sued MTN last Friday, said he was forced to drag the telecommunication giants to court because he has been complaining about poor services from MTN since 2004 coupled with the fact that the company decided to disconnect him without prior notice.
He said the situation puts him and his family in danger since he can no longer communicate with them during an emergency.
�We have mobile companies taking over our lives and messing us up,� he said. �Consumers must not allow that to happen. You can�t just get out and disconnect people when there is a dispute to be settled. You have to wait for the dispute to end.�
