REBECCA ACQUAH, mother of the two children who were killed by their stepfather recently has confessed to DAILY GUIDE that she does not know any of the suspect�s family members. Also known as Obaa Yaa, she said she met suspect Samuel Kojo Dankwa at Mandela near Weija four years ago after which they decided to cohabit. In an interview with the paper she revealed that, �when I moved in with him four years ago, he never took me to his hometown neither was he willing to see my family to perform the customary marriage until I became pregnant and gave birth to our two year old son.� �I lived with Samuel together with my four children until recently he begun to assault me at the least provocation.� She noted that she received beatings and death threats from her husband anytime she returned home late or when he returned from work and did not find food on the table. Speaking with ardor, Madam Rebecca said the latest disagreement that compelled her to leave the children behind to her hometown was because of �chop money� (housekeeping) money. �On June 21, 2012, when my husband was leaving for work, he gave me GH�7 to prepare food for the day. Since the money was not enough to prepare food, I decided to buy food instead. When Samuel came home that day without seeing food on the table, he became furious and pulled knife to stab me. This compelled me to flee from the house for safety. I only returned last Friday morning to be told by my neighbours that my husband had killed the step children. I now do not know if my last born is still alive or has also been killed by the father.� Meanwhile, her 10 year old son (name withheld) told the paper that when his mother left, he and his siblings lived together with their stepfather until June 26, when he took the children out of the house one by one to an unknown destination. �When I asked him of the whereabouts of my two siblings, Daddy Joe told me that he had taken them to my grandmother so after sweeping the compound, I followed up to my grandmother�s house.� Chief inspector Fred Agyei of Weija District Police also told the paper that police were doing their best to arrest the suspect. A field examination of the two bodies after their discovery indicated that Evans Abban 7, was strangulated to death while little Dorothy Abban 4, was hit with a heavy object. Suspect Samuel Kojo Dankwa is wanted by the police for allegedly killing two of his step children at New Bortianor. The bodies were discovered last Friday by the police when they were dumped at a nearby bush near Shoprite, New Weija. Information gathered indicated the suspect took the two step children out together with his own son aged 2 but never returned. It is believed he might be hiding somewhere in Tarkwa or Dunkwa on Offin.
