A 29-year-old man, Zebedee Obikyere, has been arrested by the Narcotics Unit of the Ghana Police CID for impersonating a legal practitioner. Obikyere is alleged to have fronted as one Ellis Quashiga, a legal practitioner, handling a narcotic case of a certain John Abiwu. According to the Director of Operations at the Police CID, ACP Frank Cofie, the suspect at one of the hearings at the Cocoa Affairs Court in Accra met Quashiga and attempted to escape. ACP Cofie told Citi News he was subsequently apprehended and during interrogation it was revealed he was once a clerk at the law firm of Quashiga. ACP Cofie added he has been charged with impersonation and deceit of a public officer. He has since been granted bail with two sureties, one to be justified. The case has, however, been adjourned to August 2, 2012.
