Tema West NPP Still Boiling

Indications from the Tema West constituency branch of the New Patriotic Party show that all is not well within the party, with internal wrangling threatening to negatively affect the opposition partys chances in the December polls. A key member of the constituency, Kwesi Poku, who has been described as an ally of the former Majority Leader in Parliament and former MP of the constituency has disclosed that he will not campaign for the Tema West NPP parliamentary candidate and incumbent MP, Hon. Irene Naa Torshie Addo though he acknowledges that he is in full support of the presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Speaking on Adom News, Kwesi Poku maintained that he is a paid up member of the NPP in the Tema West constituency adding that he still holds the party dear his personal differences would not allow him to campaign for her. He admitted that he is close friends with the NDC candidate and Local Government Minister, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, but was quick to add that even the minister knows he can never defect to the NDC. He vehemently dismissed suggestions that his estranged relationship with Hon Torshie Addo arose from a failed attempt at intimacy, as being speculated by some of the constituents. The chairman of the NPP in the constituency, Mr. John Kwame Awuah indicated party officials had received information about Kwesi Pokus campaign for the NDC candidate but insisted they would not allow this to distract them winning the seat again. Chairman Awuah warned that if Kwesi Poku had taken money from the NDC candidate, he should restrict himself to his NDC activities and not interfere with the NPP constituency strategy.
