The Progressive People�s Party (PPP) in a statement issued shortly after the death of President John Evans Atta Mills has stated that: �the PPP has learnt with a heavy heart the sudden and untimely death of the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Professor John Evans Atta-Mills. Signed by its National Secretary, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw, it expressed that, �the PPP wishes to convey its heartfelt condolences to the people of Ghana, the National Democratic Congress, the wife and family of the former President.� �We urge all Ghanaians to remain calm and circumspect in this trying moment in our national life. We pledge our full support and co-operation to the Vice-President, His Excellency, John Dramani Mahama, as he takes up the mantle of leadership and take steps to offer a befitting farewell to the father of the nation.
