West African Bar Association Pays Tribute To Mills

The West African Bar Association {WABA} offers its deepest condolences to the people of the Republic of Ghana for the loss of President John Evans Atta Mills. President Atta Mills was clearly one of the most progressive leaders in West Africa. President Mills worked tirelessly to promote economic growth and development in Ghana in the midst of challenging global circumstances. His commitment to democratic values including respect for human rights and for the fair treatment of all Ghanaians has enabled Ghana be a beacon of freedom, peace and stability in West Africa and on the African continent. WABA notes in particular that under the administration of President Mills, the Ghana justice system has become a model for best practice within Africa. With less than five months remaining before scheduled Ghanian national elections, WABA enjoins the people of Ghana to honor the memory of President Atta Mills by affirming their commitment to Ghanas strong tradition of democracy and ensuring a peaceful, free and fair electoral process.
