Kofi Adams has asked President John Mahama not to countenance the likes of Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, who he said are intent on continuing with their mode of operations when former President John Evans Atta Mills was alive. Kofi Adams, aide to former President Rawlings, who is a suspended Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, counseled President John Mahama not to waste time in clearing such persons, lest they create the challenges they did for the deceased president. �They would destroy him,� he said. His reaction was prompted by Nii Lante�s remarks that had he been a relative of the deceased president he would not have allowed the Rawlingses into his house. �I am sorry for him. That is why he is not Mills� son,� he said when he spoke to Oman FM on Friday following Nii Lantey�s disclosures. �Mills should know that he (Nii Lantey) is one of those who did not allow the late president to rest even when it was important for him to do so,� he said. The former Director of Operations of the deceased president, who is the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Odododiodioo constituency, was reported as saying that the late Mills complained about the conduct of Rawlingses and Ken Kuranche, the Managing Editor of the Searchlight newspaper each time he visited him. �What have I done to Jerry and his wife that they keep worrying me? and Ken Kuranche,� Nii Lantey claimed. The deceased was stressed by the thought of the pressure brought to bear upon him by the Rawlingses and Ken Kuranchie, he said. In reaction, Kofi Adams contemptuously said �you want to believe Nii Lantey? Remember what happened during the president�s last engagement with the media when Mills said Rawlings was not a pain on him. Where was Nii Lantey? This is not the time to discuss such matters. Was Mills lying when he said Rawlings was not a pain on him? He never told him anything. Their meeting was cordial.� Continuing, he said that since Nii Lantey was not present at the meeting he wondered the foundation of his remarks. �Let John Mahama put his foot down. They (Nii Lantey and others) are seeking to consolidate their positions. They would continue what they did before. He queried the manner in which certain actions were taken by the leadership of the party since Mills died and denied that his boss Rawlings was invited to any meeting via text message. �Let them tell us who sent that text message� he said. Following the assumption of office by the president, the newly installed head of state declared one week of mourning for the deceased, Kofi Adams said. �Yet certain decisions were taken within the period in question, let us complete the week of mourning.� By the actions taken so far, the president would not be in a position to choose the right persons to support him in his new office, he explained. �They are putting the horse before the cart making things difficult for the leader of the party� he said. In a related development, the Central Regional Communications Director of the NDC, Allotey Jacobs assured that John Mahama would maintain the status quo at the Castle. �There is not going to be any change at the Castle. I am assuring you that the status quo would remain unchanged (sic). Ken Kuranchie, who reacted to Nii Lantey remarks and disclosures, stated he never insulted the late president but rather critiqued the government�s performance in consonance with the dictates of his occupation. Unfortunately, he said, his work had been misconstrued in this fashion.
