Appointments Committee Performance During Vetting Of Amissah Arthur Was Wasteful And Appalling - Ken Agyapong

Member of Parliament for Assin North, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has expressed his disappointment in his colleague members on the Appointments Committee, describing their performance during the vetting of Vice President-designate Paa Kwesi Amissah Arthur as wasteful. The outspoken NPP MP considers as appalling and disappointing some of the unintelligent questions posed to Mr. Amissah Arthur during the vetting. According to him, the committee fell short of asking relevant questions especially in relation to the depreciation of the cedi especially against some major foreign currencies, adding that probably because most of them are not business inclined. Speaking in an interview on Okay FMs Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the NPP firebrand said members of the committee treated issues of topical concern with kids gloves. According to him, the whole proceedings were a farce since it was reduced to mere bedroom discussions with no seriousness attached to it and wondered why members of parliament instead of asking relevant questions, chose to congratulate the nominee when he had not even been confirmed as the vice-president. The Assin North MP further stated that most of the PAC members only just rephrased questions which had already been asked by other members and some made mockery of themselves, posing questions they did not even understand. The NPP MP further accused Mr. Amissah Arthur of being responsible for the declining economic fortunes of the country, stressing that he has not been competent as Governor of the Bank of Ghana. some of the answers Mr. Amissah gave deserved to be probed further but they were swept under the carpet, with no carethe Chairman of the Parliamentary Appointments Committee (Hon Doe Adjaho), was also very dictatorial preventing intelligent questions from being asked, Kennedy Agyapong added.
