German side Schalke 04 have dismissed rumours linking Anthony Annan to Aston Villa. The Sun newspaper reported on Monday that manager Paul Lambert is weighing up a move for the Ghana international midfielder. Schalke are ready to release Annan for �2.5million but the club say it has received no offer from the English side. The 26-year-old is regarded as surplus to requirements and will leave the Veltins Arena. Annan�s contract with the Royal Blues will end in 2014. He played last season on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the Dutch Eredivisie. Annan has also been targeted by Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht.
