Only Few Crimes Recorded At Funeral

Very few and minor criminal incidents were recorded during the burial of President John Fiifi Atta Mills. Commissioner of Police (COP) John Kudalor told The Finder that the police recorded three theft cases during the burial service at the Independence Square. COP John Kudalor, who is the Director-General of Police Operations, said the deployment of modern security measures contributed partly to minimising crime at the event. Among the measures employed were the mounting of a police station at the Independence Square, the despatching of plain-clothed police officers at the periphery as well as intensive police patrols. COP Kudalor explained that the police administration took a cue from their experience during the visit of United States President Barack Obama to Ghana, among others, as a guide. He said the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) was coached to be especially courteous and professional in the discharge of their duty since it was a time for mourning. He described the exercise as successful, explaining that policemen arrived at the scene at 3am each day from the laying in state of the President till his burial. He expressed gratitude to all policemen and other security agencies for their dedication.
