Miss Earth Ghana Finals Set For August 24

All is set for the grand finale of the Miss Earth-Ghana beauty pageant. The event is scheduled to be held on August 25, at the National Theatre in Accra. The event, which is aimed at creating a platform for young, beautiful and intelligent women to use their talents to develop concepts that will help protect the environment, is being organized by Marketing Bees Network (MBN) in collaboration with Events Galore Limited and First Royal Company Limited. The ultimate winner takes home an official car from Hyundai plus GH?10, 000, one year wardrobe and participation in the international version of Miss Earth. The first runner-up will receive GH?5,000, a home theatre set, wardrobe for six months, participation in an international event and a 32-inch plasma TV set; while the second runner up gets GH?3,000, wardrobe for three months and participation in an international event. The third runner-up takes home a refrigerator, GH?1, 000 and a set of fabrics from sponsors, while special prizes worth GHC500 will be presented to seven other contestants in various categories namely Miss Earth Walk, Miss Earth Project, Miss Earth Congeniality and Best National Costume. The rest are Miss Earth Eloquence, Miss Earth Face and Miss Earth Poise and Attitude. The Event Director, Mrs. Nkechi Onuoha, who confirmed the date and venue for the final show in a statement to the press, pointed out that �in the run up to the ultimate show, the delegates would engage in a series of activities, which would be filmed and beamed to audiences in special �Miss Earth-Ghana diaries� to enable the general public to watch and vote for their favourite delegates�. Meanwhile, the contesting beauties have visited schools in Tema and Accra to give talks on the environment and also join the students to plant trees. The schools visited included the DEKS International School and the Aggrey Road Memorial Schools, Tema; and the La Wireless School in Accra. The earth ambassadors also paid courtesy calls on the donors and sponsors of the Miss Earth event to share ideas on how they can help corporate Ghana to do more to support the environmental protection efforts of the government. The contestants will also visit the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, and the Kwahu area in the Eastern Region, where they will interact with students from selected schools and also help to plant trees. �The contestants� trips around the country are to help sanitise and beautify the country in line with the objectives of the pageant,� the Event Director, Ms Nkechi Onuoha said. Miss Onuoha explained that the Miss Earth Ghana event is a unique pageant that creates a platform for young ladies to ride on their beauty and intellect to protect the environment and green the earth. The Acting Chief Executive Officer of ACI Constructions, title sponsors of the event, Moses Pumpuni, expressed the hope that the organisers would do a good job to ensure the success of the programme.
