Mai Atafo Wins Best Designer At Glitz Africa Fashion Week

The 3-day Glitz Africa Fashion Week, which saw tremendous display of creativity, glamour, elegance, and style on the runway, ended on Sunday, August 19 with Nigerian designer, Mai Atafo winning the award for Designer of the Year. He presented an impressive collection which included classic men�s suit, bridal wear and evening wear on the final day. Other award winners included: Emerging Designer of the Year � Mina Evans, Female Model of the Year � Doris Adom-Asomaning, Male Model of the Year � Zion Benjamin and Lifetime Achievement Award � Kofi Ansah. Sa4a Designs won the �Chivas Luxury Man Design� competition for a locally based designer and received GhC 800, Chivas Regal Whisky and souvenir. The 3-day Fashion Week that had daily Fashion Sales Exhibitions in the mornings and daily after parties opened on Friday, August 17 with Ali Adams, the Ghanaian born South African base, who took no chances to whet the appetite of the audience. He was followed by Peachy Purr (Ghana), House Of Eccentric (Ghana), Vonne Couture (Nigeria), Kastle Designs & Treasure Chest (U.S) Martial Tapolo (Paris). Day 2 kicked off with elegant designs from former Ghanaian beauty queen and model, PEARL AMOAH. She was followed by Ophelia Crossland (Ghana), Dio Ali (Cameroon), Aya Morrison (Ghana), Akuchi Clothing (Ghana), Felicien Castermann (Benin), Habbib Sangare (C�te D�ivoire), Black Pepper (South Africa), N�kya Designs (Ghana), Sa4a (Ghana), Wana Sambo Clothing (Nigeria), Modela Couture (Nigeria), Mina Evans (Ghana), Abaya Dake (U.S), Kolture Apparel (Ghana), and House Of Farrah (Nigeria)The final day saw amazing and diverse collections from Farrah (India), Diva Delicious (Ghana), Ambassador Couture (Nigeria), Ivana Elle Couture (Ghana), Ohema Ohene (U.K), Gilles Toure (C�te D�ivoire), Mai Atafo Inspired (Nigeria), and Kofi Ansah (Ghana). The second day also witnessed a fashion seminar with speakers Kofi Ansah and Dzibordi Dosu. There were musical performances on all three days from top Ghanaian musicians like Chemphe, 4x4, Irene Logan, Yaa Yaa, Sandra Houson and many others. Guests for the event included former first lady of Ghana, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, Juliet Ibrahim, Confidence Haugen, Dele Momodu, Kwesi Jyei Darkwa and others.
