Asomdwe Park Re-opens To Public October

The Asomdwe (Peace) Park, which serves as the burial site of late President John Evans Atta Mills, will be opened to the public in October. The park situated between the Castle Drive and the Marine Drive, near the Independence Square was closed to the public on August 20 for completion of works. The chairman of the dissolved funeral planning committee, Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, announced on Monday the Park will be re-opened to the public around the middle of October. Meanwhile, the 40-day customary celebration which the family of the late president in Ekumfi Otuam has proposed will come off on September 20. Mr. Quakyi stated that their work has come to an end and any other issues related to the funeral should be directed at the Presidency. We were tasked with the funeral and burial of our late president and as far as we are concerned, our job is done. The committee ceases and all residual matter should be referred to the Chief of Staff at the Castle, he said.
