The Royal Aboradze number one family of Edumadze at Mankessim in Central Region has accused the Mankessim District Police Command of allegedly helping its destooled Ebusuapanyin, Kow Adaanu, to intimidate and harass some family members in the area. The family has therefore asked the police to stay out of the issue in order not to cause mayhem in the area. �We know you are peacemakers and should not allow Adaanu to use his money to influence you to harass some family members since we belong to one family and never expected you to take sides,� it added. Speaking at a press conference organized at Mankessim to register its displeasure about the behavior of Adaanu, the new head of the family, Opanyin Kwaw Narkwa, disclosed that Adaanu was installed the family head in September 2009 but due to his behaviour, the elders in the family had no option but to destool him in order not to bring disgrace and shame to the family. Opanyin Narkwa said while Adaanu was still head of the family, he allegedly connived with the Obaahemaa of the family, Esi Yeboaba to sell lands belonging to the family, without informing the elders. �Despite several warnings from the elders of the family to desist from the act, he went on to sell all the lands belonging to the family without accounting to us. �The most annoying part of the whole situation is that he did multiple sale of the same lands, a situation which has compelled some people to drag the family to court to compel as to pay back those monies, even though he never gave us some of the money he got out of the sale of the family lands,� Narkwa claimed. The family head further alleged that Adaanu had the full support of the police force in the area; hence he embarked on such criminal activities. He also alleged that Adaanu, who was destooled two years ago, had set up spies and given his number to the Saltpond Police to arrest any family member who stepped on the family land Opanyin Narkwa revealed that the Ekumfi Traditional Council and the Central Regional House of Chiefs as well as the Mankessim Township were all informed about the destoolment of Adaanu and had asked him to stop acting as the Ebusuapanyin. The Ebusuapanyin said several reports made by them to the president of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Daasebre Kwebu Ewusie and the Ekumfi Traditional Council, had yielded no positive result. The Ebusua Batan of the family, Opanyin Kwesi Mensah, urged the police to dissociate themselves from the family dispute and not take sides with Adaanu to cause confusion and mayhem in the area since their duty was to ensure peace. He also advised the general public to desist from transacting business with Adaanu in the name of the family, warning that they did so at their own risk.
