Isaac Amoako Resigns As Asante Kotoko Captain

Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Isaac Amoako will not captain the Kumasi-based club in the upcoming 2012-2013 Ghana Glo Premier League season. Amoako tendered his resignation earlier this month, according to spokesperson of the club Listowell Yesu Bukarson. He explained his decision comes after deep thoughts over his role as the teams captain and how that has not helped him to really focus on his performance. According to the shot-stopper, I want to focus on my performance ahead of next seasons Glo Premier League thats what informed my decision. Amoako has lost his number one position to Burkina Faso last line of defense Suleiman Abdulai and has set his sights on regaining the spot. He said: My duties as a captain, especially those that are off the pitch work is not helping me to pay maximum attention to my form at a time that I want to be the number one again here at Kotoko. In his absence midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei or goalkeeper Abdulai will be handed the arduous task of leading the Porcupine Warriors ambition of retaining the league title and also perform well on the African continent.
