The General Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Asiedu Nkestia, has launched a vitriolic attack on the clergy, describing their stance on the recent leaked tape of Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan as hypocritical. Some members of the clergy is reported to have urged security agencies to swiftly investigate comments made by the NDC national organizer on a leaked tape, which was first aired on Tuesday. Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan was heard on the secret tape scheming with some thugs to destabilize the security of the nation in the December polls. Mr. Asiedu Nketsia who is popularly known as 'General Mosquito', speaking on Asempa Fm on Thursday, advised the men of God �to leave the constitution for politicians to handle whereas they also concentrate on their bibles.� He intimated that the call by the clergy was far-fetched and ill-conceived because it was bias towards the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). �Were we not in this country when former President Kufuor and the NPP decided to go ahead with the ROPAL despite numerous calls on him at the time to stop? Where were these pastors when the NPP and Kufuor remained adamant during the period and went ahead to do whatever they want to? � All of a sudden these pastors have now found their voices and now contributing to any single issue in the country. I thank God because it tells you that democracy is striving in the country and I am happy for that,� General Mosquito questioned. Touching on whether the party was taking steps to reprimand Mr. Yaw Boateng Gyan, he said the comment on the said tape did not tarnish the image of the NDC neither was it planning to distract the peace of the nation in anyway, so such steps have not been considered. �The party has no plans of reprimanding him because his statement did not attack the party in anyway, so the party has no plans of taking disciplinary action against him. Moreover, the tape has been tampered with so we are not considering that at all,� the NDC general secretary added.
