The Communications Director for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has expressed disgust at the conduct of the nation�s broadcasting company, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) during their afternoon news bulletin on Ghana Television (GTV) on Monday. During the 2pm news on GTV on Monday, GBC which has really shown that they are no longer the station of the nation but rather a station for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), devoted 15 minutes showing the footages of President John Dramani Mahama, the Flagbearer of the NDC. According to Nana Akomea, GBC�s conduct in recent times clearly demonstrate the bias nature of the company forgetting that the corporation belongs to the state and as such should be neutral in all its duties. Well-meaning Ghanaians has observed with keen interest that the GBC is no longer the station for the nation and the latest of this was manifested on the afternoon news on GTV on Monday. According to the NPP guru, they devoted 15 minutes for the NDC flagbearer with the footages of his thank you tour to Nigeria and Benin, his policy speech and also his visit to Bole-Bamboi as well as his childhood days and profile. Speaking in an interview with the Daily Searchlight, Nana Akomea noted that this bias on the part of GBC is so blatant because such a thing has never happened in any election year. He has therefore called on the Director General of GBC, Baafi Apenteng �not to allow this low professional ethics in GBC because Ghanaians see what is happening. According to the NPP Communications Director, the rallies which were covered in Tamale and Kumasi has up till now not been played and yet they go ahead devoting almost every time to the NDC. �We know that Baafi Apenteng was appointed by the NDC due to his political affiliation with the party but we expect that he shows his professional ethics,� he stressed. Nana Akomea also called on the National Media Commission (NMC) to sit up and not to let this partisan and blatant lifestyle of the state broadcasting media to continue.
