Ban On Noise Making In Big Ada Commences

Nene Abram Kabu Akuaku III, Paramount Chief of Ada Traditional Area, and the Chief Priest of the town, Ngmlo Ngmlo Wornor Abayateye, in a statement to the Ghana News Agency, said the annual ban on noise making in Big Ada and adjoining communities has commenced and called on all to strictly adhere to the directives of the priesthood. The ban, which also restricts movement late at night and roaming of animals, is to clean the town of spiritual filth brought into the area during the celebration of Ada Asafotufiami Festival. According to the statement, every year, after the celebration of the festival, a ban is placed on noise making, movement late at night, and prevention of domestic animals from roaming the town to avert the wrath of the gods. Until the ban is lifted, any domestic animal seen roaming would be caught and the owner fined. The statement said this period was very crucial to spiritually purge the traditional area of all that were forbidden and to ask for the favour of the gods for the coming years.
