Akufo-Addo Brings Akyem Oda To A Standstill

Akyem Oda came to a standstill on Thursday when Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), arrived in the town to continue his nation-wide campaign tour. The one week tour of the Eastern Region dubbed �Restoring Hope Tour� would take Nana Akufo-Addo to constituencies such as Akwatia, New Juaben South, Ofoase Ayirebi, Upper West Akyem, Lower West Akyem and Akyem Swedru. He is accompanied on the tour by Mr Lord Commey, Director of Operations for the campaign team, Mr Dan Botwe, the Member of Parliament for Okere, Mr Abu Jinapor, member of the campaign team, Mr Yaw Osafo Maafo, former MP for Akyem Oda, Mr Felix Owusu Agyepong, former MP for Akyem Swedru, some MPs and all regional executive of the party. The NPP presidential candidate was mobbed by a joyous crowd of women, both young and old who sang party songs to welcome him. He interacted with petty traders, market women, shoppers and commuters and told them that he would recapture power in 2012. Addressing a rally at the Akyem Oda main lorry park, Nana Akufo-Addo, who lost the 2008 election, told them that he came to announce his readiness and determination to work hard to recapture power in 2012 from the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He expressed optimism to the 2012 election and urged the people to pray for him for good health and that he would bring back hope and smiles to the majority of Ghanaians. Drivers expressed joy at meeting the Nana Akufo-Addo and appealed to him to save them from the current economic situation.
