Man Commits Suicide After Losing Second Wife In Succession

Nathaniel Doe, a 50-year-old farmer met his untimely death by allegedly throwing himself into River Dayi after the death of his second wife, Mavis Ntim, from a protracted illness. Doe, threatened that if his wife passed on, he would commit suicide since the trauma of the death of a second wife would be too overbearing for him. Mr Noble Awumey, the deceased friend narrated to the Ghana News Agency that Doe, constantly threatened to end his life if the second wife fails to make it like the first one who died some one-and-half years ago. He said the deceased called him on Sunday that Mavis had died and that he was going to carry his threat by drowning in River Dayi. Mr Awumey said Doe went missing that Sunday and a search party only found a T-shirt and sandals belonging to him at the bank of the river. The deceased body was recovered some seven kilometres from his abode. The body has been deposited at the Hohoe Municipal hospital morgue for autopsy. Detective Chief Inspector of Police, Mr Agyeman Badu confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency.
