Asantehene Calls For Teacher Motivation To Be Prioritized In Education Policy Formulation

The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu has stressed the importance of adequately motivating teachers to perform their duties well. He said it would be difficult to achieve quality education, if the teachers needs are not prioritised in policies. Otumfuo Osei Tutu said this when he received a delegation from the Ghana Education Service (GES), led by the Ashanti Regional Director, Joseph Kwabena Onyinah, to the Manhyia Palace. The delegation had called to formally invite the Asantehene to this years National Best Teacher/Worker Awards Day fixed for October 5, in Kumasi. Mr Onyinah praised the Asantehene for his extraordinary commitment, interest and contribution to the development of education. He expressed gratitude to the Otumfuo for rewarding more than 500 teachers selected from deprived basic schools across the country with prizes through the Otumfuo Charity Foundation.
