Mr. Cezar Kale, Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, has urged Ghanaians not to be deceived by the �non-feasible free education policy� being trumpeted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flag-bearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.
He stated that free education could not be achieved without the laying of a solid education foundation, saying that still remained to be achieved in the country.
Mr. Kale said even though the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had done tremendously well in expanding education infrastructure, improving the working conditions of teachers, opening of new schools and other pro-poor education interventions, but more needed to be done to achieve that solid education foundation.
Mr. Kale, who was speaking at the launch of NDC campaign for the Wa Central constituency seat in Wa on Thursday, stated that NDC which had an enviable truck record in the development of the country�s education, was the only party that could deliver Ghana�s education needs.
According to him, 95 per cent of basic schools in the Upper West Region now enjoyed the School Feeding Programme as against the 17 per cent under the NPP administration, adding that more than 600 boreholes have also been drilled in the region to improve access to potable water.
The Deputy Regional Minister said President John Dramani Mahama had the strength and experience to deliver the �Better Ghana Agenda� promised by the late President Mills and urged the youth to rally behind him for he was the only one who understood their plight.
Alhaji Abdul-Rahshid Pelpuo, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central and the NDC Parliamentary candidate for the seat in the 2012 elections, urged the supporters to vote for him and President Mahama for them to complete the on-going rural electrification project.
Alhaji Pelpuo, who is also the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, said those who were craving to create confusion in the coming elections would not succeed and called on peace loving Ghanaians to endeavour to expose such people and their bad deeds.
Alhaji Amidu Sulemana, Upper West Regional Minister, said NPP was a party full of broken promises.
He alleged that the NPP promised to construct railway lines to link the Northern part of the country but failed to do so when voted into power in 2000. Alhaji Sulemana said the NPP was again deceiving Ghanaians with free education in order to get their mandate to carry out its capitalist agenda.
He urged Ghanaians to demonstrate to the NPP that they were fed up with them by voting massively for the NDC for it to continue its �judicious use of state resources�.
