Dr. Bawumia Wasnt BoG Dept Governor During IFC Loan Saga - NPP

The spokesperson of the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mustapha Hamid, has debunked the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) assertion that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, then Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, led the erstwhile Kufuor administration to contract loans in a hairdressing saloon. At the most recent edition of the NDCs setting the records straight forum, Deputy Finance Minister, Fiifi Kwetey alleged that the NPP Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia was instrumental in pursuing the IFC and CNTCI 419 loans in a hairdressing saloon. But Hamid, who has been on a campaign tour up north with the NPP vice presidential candidate said there was no modicum of truth in Mr. Kweteys claim. Is a plain lie. I mean is part of the DNA of the NDC and now the Ghanaian people know as for the NDC their second name is lies and propaganda but this time they are not going to get away with it, he said. According to him, Dr. Bawumia was appointed as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana two years after the So-called IFC and CNTCI 419 loan transactions. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia became Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana in 2006, this so-called CNTCI loan or the attempt to contract it was in 2004 so two clear years before Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia became the Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana so which Mahamudu Bawumia is he talking about, he asked. It cannot be true that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia led any government and besides that the rudimentary economics that Fiifi Kwetey is using the tax payers money to go to London and learn should have told him that it is not the business of Bank of Ghana to lead government to go and negotiate loans; loan agreements are purely the business of the government that is ruling and it has nothing to do with Bank of Ghana whose business is monetary policy, Hamid explained. Citi News checks indicate that Dr. Bawumia was the head of Monetary Policy and Financial Stability Department of the BoG from 2004 to 2006. Hamid boasted that the NDC was scared of the inroads Dr. Bawumias campaign team is making up north, hence their desperate attempts to attack his personality. Insha Allah, come December the people of the Northern region have made a pledge that this people ought to go so we can put this country back on a proper footing; is the suffering that the NDC government has inflicted on the people, their callousness, the plain wickedness, the greed, the insatiable desire for self gratification, the grabbing, the distribution and dissipation of Ghanas wealth is so nauseating that the people can see and everybody is very annoyed: so this is the reason why people are leaving the NDC to join the NPP, he said. Of huge concern is this thing these days about farmers having to pay GHC150 cedis for one injection if they get bitten by snakes, you know the people of the North are generally farmers and you cannot avoid snake bites during farming seasons; so President Kufuor during his era said anti-snake serum should be free for our farmers because you cannot go to the farm to toil in other to feed the nation and when you get bitten by a snake you have to cough out money to buy the anti-snake serum, but when this NDC government came to power they have removed it. Apart from the free SHS concept, Hamid said the NPP Vice Presidential candidate has been assuring the people up North of a caring and competent administration that will place premium on agriculture which is their mainstay of economic gains. The NDC is virtually non-existence in most of the areas that we go to not by any magic but because they have seen that this is a very wicked government and they are determined to bring back a government which will be more caring and compassionate and so Dr. Bawumia has been assuring them that we will indeed be more caring and that we will see to their needs, we will make agriculture better for them.
