Domestic airline operator, Antrak, has blamed the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority for the closure of the Kumasi Airport. It has also taken a swipe at the Transport Minister accusing him of indecision. Antrak says it was surprised to hear the Minister on radio stations telling Ghanaians the airport will re-open to traffic on Tuesday. Antrak Chairman Asuma Banda also blamed some heavy aircraft for the damage of the Airport�s runway. He told journalists Tuesday morning that Antrak and other players in the industry have been enduring higher operational costs since 2011. Meanwhile, the Ghana Airports Company Limited has urged the government to give the airport a major facelift. Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company, John Ameidor said a presentation has been to government for the airport to be given a facelift. �We made a presentation to government that it is about time the runway was given a major rehabilitation and about two three months ago the Ministry of Finance gave 10 million Ghana cedis to be used to initiate rehabilitation works�.
