Do Not Fight Over Location Of District Capitals- President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday appealed to chiefs and people to desist from fighting over the location of capitals of newly created districts. The creation of districts is not conterminous with paramountcies and I want to call on chiefs to avoid inciting their subjects against the creation of districts and location of their capitals, he said. President Mahama made this appeal when he addressed the chiefs and people of Dzolokpuita in the the Ho West Constituency as part of his three-day campaign tour of parts of the Volta Region. The President, who addressed similar rallies at Atimpoku, Juapong, Peki and Kpeve, would also launch the National Democratic Congress Manifesto, inspect and inaugurate projects. President Mahama said energy formed a major component of the new NDC manifesto under the Energy for all article that stipulates that every community that has 500 people and above should be provided with electricity. He said at the appropriate time all communities in the country would receive their share of the national cake and therefore needed to be patient and tolerant until they received their due share of government development projects. On road construction, he said the Ho West Constituency had been a major beneficiary of such projects and promised that educational and health facilities would be initiated to meet their demands. President Mahama also cautioned the electorate against election violence, adding God willing, the NDC will win the 2012 general election and there is no need in engaging in violence that can mar our reputation in the eyes of the outside world. Chiefs in the various communities called for the construction of feeder roads and school projects to stem the perennial rural/urban drift.
