Civil Society Groups are advocating for an Educational Commission that will help reduce political interference in Ghana�s educational sector. According to them, political parties over the years have interfered with the educational system which is negatively affecting policy direction and the delivery of strategic plans for the sector. The group therefore has developed an Education Manifesto for the various political parties in the country to give due consideration when given the mandate to govern the country in the December polls. Speaking to Citi News, the Executive Director of Action for Rural Education, Kofi Asare said: �After developing the manifesto with civil society organization including the media, it was necessary to share the content, strategies and policies in the manifesto with political parties to afford them a deeper insight into the background to the issues that have been raised and the contest within which the recommendations have been made in the civil society education manifesto.� �More so, to commit them through the MOU to implement the civil society education manifesto as an alternative policy document should they successful assume the realms of power,� he added. Meanwhile, political parties have welcomed the policies in the manifesto and have given the assurance that they will help in its implementation when they come into power.
